This was a super fun afternoon beach picnic with my good friend and Piku my rescue Kitty. She was mostly well behaved and walked with her leash on! We were all having fun until the bumpy ride from the beach back out to the main highway after sunset.
For no reason we could see, Piku freaked out and turned into a tornado in the front seat of my friend’s Toyota Tacoma. A tornado with teeth!! She almost jumped out the window!
Maybe she smelled a wild pig??? It was a rough ten minutes, my friend had to pull over and stop. Thankfully we were able to calm her down enough to ride home. That was the last time Piku has ridden in another person’s car 🙂
I absolutely love finding edible fruit and weeds when I’m hiking! These fuzzy grey/blue mystery berries are really yummy. They taste like blueberry jam inside, YUM!! The fuzzy exterior was too fuzzy to eat 🙂 a local man called them “Rat Berries” and agreed that yes they’re edible.
Please know that I’m not suggesting that you eat mystery berries or anything else mysterious because it’s not safe. But I was really happy with these!
More pictures of lovely tropical Hawaiian scenery, pineapples I grew myself, tropical flowers, my vegan gluten free pizza, cookies and cinnamon roll experiments and more!
I mostly stick to my raw vegan diet (over 20 years raw!!) but I’m enjoying learning how to bake for family, friends and clients,
Hi everybody! Somehow an ENTIRE YEAR went by without me writing a SINGLE post. I don’t know how that happened but I must have been very busy 🙂 ha!! I work as a caregiver and our wonderful Kapuna here really keep me on my toes!
The last year has been beautiful here in Hawaii, lots of rain and now POOF it’s Suddenly Summer and sunny every day. Yay!
Recently I visited my family in the Pacific NW, picked all kinds of wild edible weeds and greens like usual, made crazy Green Smoothies from dandelion, nettles, goosefoot, cleavers, chickweed, horsetail and more and loved smelling all the spring flowers on my hikes.
After that I spent a few days in Orange County, got to run barefoot on the sand of Huntington Beach and also drive down Pacific Coast Highway, which is one of my very favorite things to do!
Here’s a round up of Beach tidepool pictures where my friend and I gathered sea salt, plus pictures of giant Rambutan (yum!!!!) hiking, fruit picking, my attempt at vegan pizza (pretty good!!) plus tropical flowers, and my rescue Kitty Piku.

It may not be life in the fast lane here in Hawaii but we do have some beautiful classic cars! And lots of lovable snuggle-able horses here too. Here’s a round up of fruit pictures, tropical flowers, a dove I rescued, my kitty, mountains and more!

Hi everybody! Had a very fun time in the Pacific Northwest visiting friends & family and making Rhododendron Juice (also called Buransh) which is supposed to a Himalayan secret to health! It’s yummy. I blended up some blossoms with organic lemonade but please do your own research before drinking this to make sure it’s safe!
I also made a ton of Green Smoothies using edible weeds I picked while hiking around like stinging Nettles, Horsetails, Goosefoot, Cleavers and more.
After this I went south to California and went Rock Hunting for gems and crystals. It was SO much fun!!!! We found a giant pile of rough gem stones left behind by a rock hound in Huntington Beach of all places, in the middle of a neighborhood!! We were given permission to dig around and take whatever we wanted. It was incredible!!!!!
So many rocks!!!!!LA freewaysBeach!Back to Hawaii!
