Life in the Fast Lane

Life in the Fast Lane

It may not be life in the fast lane here in Hawaii but we do have some beautiful classic cars! And lots of lovable snuggle-able horses here too. Here’s a round up of fruit pictures, tropical flowers, a dove I rescued, my kitty, mountains and more!

Got Rocks?

Got Rocks?

Hi everybody! Had a very fun time in the Pacific Northwest visiting friends & family and making Rhododendron Juice (also called Buransh) which is supposed to a Himalayan secret to health! It’s yummy. I blended up some blossoms with organic lemonade but please do your own research before drinking this to make sure it’s safe!

I also made a ton of Green Smoothies using edible weeds I picked while hiking around like stinging Nettles, Horsetails, Goosefoot, Cleavers and more.

After this I went south to California and went Rock Hunting for gems and crystals. It was SO much fun!!!! We found a giant pile of rough gem stones left behind by a rock hound in Huntington Beach of all places, in the middle of a neighborhood!! We were given permission to dig around and take whatever we wanted. It was incredible!!!!!

Durian Days

Durian Days

Hi everybody! It was a really warm balmy winter here in Hawaii without much rain. It’s hard to believe it’s almost Summer! This year is flying by. I’m hoping to catch up on LOTS more pictures from recent Hikes, Beach adventures and Fabulous organic Fruit Picking outings soon!! So please check back for more new posts 🙂

I had so much fun picking these local apple Bananas (they’re so sweet), wild Yellow Guava, Starfruit and thankfully didn’t have to pick these local Hawaiian grown Durians. Ha!!! Since they grow about 50 feet up and are very heavy and dangerously sharp & prickly. They’re VERY yummy, sweet and such a treat to eat fresh!!

It’s wonderful to be able to pick so many edible wild greens & guavas while hiking!! Nasturtium, Plantain, Gotu Kola, WATERCRESS (extremely exciting to find growing wild) Thistles, Cat’s Ear, Blue Vervain, Curly Dock. Please remember it can be risky picking wild plants so please research first and be careful what you eat!

To the delight of my friends & roommates, I’ve also been practicing my vegan gluten free baking, making LOTS of muffins, all flavors!!! So far good results, everyone likes them and haven’t had to toss any disastrous batches to the chickens. Fingers crossed!! I’m mostly have a raw vegan diet (so hardly anything cooked or baked) but these muffins are a healthy treat and it’s so much fun to give them to friends and family!!

I have made so many different flavors and will post more pics soon. Vegan gluten free Blueberry, Lemon Blueberry, Berry, Lemon Poppy seed, Carrot Cake, Cinnamon Maple Pecan, Chocolate Chip Banana, Chocolate Black Sapote, Cinnamon Egg Fruit Pecan, Banana Cinnamon, Apple Pie Spice, Mango Coconut…..

Sweets and Swings

Sweets and Swings

Is there anything more fun than a SWING at the Beach? Every beach should have a swing! Besides swinging, hiking in the mountains and tree climbing is another one of my favorite things to do.

Rambutan Christmas Tree

I didn’t have enough Christmas ornaments so I decided decorate my Christmas tree with big red festive Rambutan!!! Edible ornaments and just in time for the holidays 🙂 perfect!!

Raw Vegan Chocolate

I’ve also been making a TON of super yummy organic raw vegan Chocolate lately, it’s so fun. And very delicious!! Much healthier than store bought chocolate. I only use the best ingredients and make chocolate in small batches.

Blue Sky Beaches

Blue Sky Beaches

Hi everybody!! It’s been warm Blue Skies and beautiful Beaches lately. Here in Hawaii August, September and October are usually the hottest months of the year. Perfect for jumping in the Ocean! The other day a Sea Turtle surprised me by swimming right past.

There are 63 miles of accessible coastline here and my favorite way to spend a sunny afternoon! I slather myself with reef safe natural Sunscreen (I make my own) pack some fruit & Smoothies and find a shady spot in the sand….
